Musikalisches Profil und Booking Policy

Das Programm wird von einer Programmgruppe geplant. Die jährlich Veranstaltungen werden ehrenamtlich betreut; es gibt nur zwei hauptamtliche Stellen.

Das Laboratorium hat in den fast 50 Jahren seines Bestehens ein Programmprofil entwickelt, das inzwischen aus folgenden Schwerpunkten besteht:

• Weltmusik

• Blues

• SingerSongwriter – Americana – Roots Rock

• Regionale Bands („Local Heroes“)

Das Laboratorium führt mehrmals pro Jahr Schwerpunktreihen durch. Darüber hinaus finden regelmäßig Veranstaltungen zu gesellschafts- und kulturpolitischen Themen statt. Dennoch haben wir natürlich für so manches Projekt, das künstlerisch kaum oder nur sehr schwer einzuordnen ist, auch Platz im Programm.

Über das Programm entscheidet die Programmgruppe, die wiederum aufgeteilt ist in einzelne, den inhaltlichen Schwerpunkten zugeordnete Arbeitsgruppen. Diese AGs entscheiden selbstständig über „ihr“ Programm, das jedoch auch immer im Plenum, das etwa einmal im Monat tagt, besprochen und abgestimmt wird.

Bewerbungen laufen über das Lab-Büro, das die Bewerbungen an die entsprechenden AGs weiter leitet.

Wir bitten alle an Auftritten im Laboratorium interessierten Musiker*innen und Agenturen,

• sich nur zu bewerben, wenn das künstlerische Konzept zu unserem Programm passt und ihr keine Coverband seid

• uns nicht ungefragt CDs und anderes Material zu schicken – eine erste Info per Mail reicht völlig aus. Bei Interesse melden wir uns und bitten um weiteres Material.

Das spart sowohl euch als uns viel Zeit und Geld.

Artistic profile and booking policy

During the fifty years of its existence, the Laboratorium has developed an artistic profile consisting of the following main focus areas:

• World music

• Blues

• Singer/Songwriter – Americana Roots Rock

• Local and regional bands (“Local heroes”)

Besides this, we host events dealing with sociopolitical and cultural issues and topics regularly. And of course we still leave some space for unique projects which are difficult to label.

All program decisions are made by the program committee, which in turn consists of several teams specialized in the different focus areas. These teams ultimately put together their part of the program autonomously. About once a month there’s a discussion and alignment meeting with the full committee.

Applications are addressed to the office, which assigns and forwards them to the corresponding teams. 

We ask all artists and booking agencies interested in booking a show at the Laboratorium:

• only to apply if you feel you’re a good fit for our artistic profile as outlined above and you are no tribute act

• not to mail us CDs or any other material unless asked to do so. Some initial information via email is sufficient – we'll come back to you and ask for further material if interested. That will save both us and yourself lots of time and money.
